Chasing the Sakura

When my husband and I were planning our trip to Japan, we were hoping that spring would come early and produce the famous Sakura, or cherry blossom, that everyone in, and outside of, Japan love so much.

If you look up images of the sakura in full bloom all over Japan, you’ll find very pretty pictures. It’s so pretty, in fact, that the sakura season is now a proper tourist attraction of itself.

The predictions for the wave of blossom that will cross Japan were slightly off, so we missed out on the big bloom, but we did manage to find some lonesome trees blossoming before the big wave.

Two images here of cherry blossom, both taken on the grounds of Himeji castle.
